Jordan and I knew we wanted Harrison's six month update pictures to be of him showing off his mad sitting up skills. And we definitely wanted to take advantage of the beautiful changing of the seasons here in Utah, so we took him over to the church, that had yellow maple leaves scattered all across the grass.
We thought it would just take 20 minutes or so to keep Harrison entertained and get a few smiles out of him, but as usual-- we were wrong.
As it turns out the crunching of the leaves scared Harrison and his 'mad sitting up skills...' well, lets just say we got the mad part right.
This lasted for all of five seconds, and then...
...THIS.
Followed by THIS...
...and THIS.
Now normally I would not post so many pictures of my sad and crying baby, but he is just too cute and so sad! All over some leaves. Well, maybe not "ALL" about the leaves, he had just cut his first tooth earlier that morning and was probably still feeling a little pain.
But seriously, just look at that sad little face! Don't you just want to scoop him up and litter him with kisses? Don't worry, I only seconds later, did just that. Mama was just inches away, out of frame, waiting to catch him if he toppled over [okay, okay, sorry I missed that first one] and comfort him with kisses when he began to cry.
After I fed and comforted Harrison, Daddy took over for a minute to see if he could do a better job getting him to sit amongst the leaves.
He started by slowly introducing a few leaves at a time...
Yes, this is working. Look at the leaves...
Yes, yes, taste the leaves...
Be one with the leaves... nope!
Okay, well come be one with the leaves up here then.
And finally! What's that I spy-- a half smile?
I'll take it!
Good job little baby.
Happy six months my grumpy little leaf eater!
